Iranian students crowned in Astrophysics Olympiad

TEHRAN – Iranian students have claimed the first place at the 2015 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in Indonesia.

The Iranian team of students swept 3 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals to win the title, IRNA reported on Tuesday.

Arman Vassiqzadeh Ansari, Fatemeh Zargarbashi, Ali Zare, Saeed Hojatinejad, Morteza Sadat, Mohammadhadi Sotoh and Alireza Arjmandshakoori were among the winners of the competition.

45 teams from 37 countries took part in the competition.

International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics is an annual astronomy competition for high school students.

The IOAA as one of the international science Olympiads is organized annually in a different host country.

The first IOAA was held in the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2007
